Replacing an LCD on a 650?!

Hey i own a 650 treo, well two of them and one of my family members dropped one and cracked the screen. the phone still powers on and such and works, but the lcd is cracked.

I was wondering how easy it is to buy a new lcd and replace it. Is the lcd easily removed by a power/data cord inside the phone so you can just stick a new one in, or what is it like?...and i guess i will need a t6 tool for he screws.

Also where is the cheapest place to get a replacement lcd, and how much should they be on average, i've seen some on ebay.

If someone that has had experience replacing the lcd please post a reply.

well obviously you can find them on ebay but also look at performncepda.com or at pda parts.com both places offer the part and to do the repair. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself you can same the labor and two way shipping. Kreth gave you the url for the video I am not sure of the price from either place to do the repair for you or the screen but with the info you haver you can figure out whats the best way for you to go. Also you might want to check out Chris Short on line he does evaluations and repairs and hes sgot a good rep

oh thanks, that vid's awesome, i'm gonna order a screen and do it myself, definately does not seem hard, now i just gotta find a place that will sell the screen cheap, thanks

i changed the keyboard on my 650 and it wasn't to difficult. if you watch the video and read a few threads it's pretty straight forward. lowes has a torx set for like $8.00. just make sure you put the screws in a small cup or something because they are very small. i just broke the lcd on my BRAND new 680. so far i haven't been able to find anyone who can fix it and replacement parts are scarce.

they may not have them yet but try performancepda.com or pda parts.com I ordered stuff to replace a broken (and lost) antenna. Very helpful. Sorry about your new 680 bummer!
