Resetting... battery problem?
i love my treo. it breaks my heart to see it reset over and over again. this is pretty much my last ditch effort to find out what's wrong with it and how to fix the problem if possible.
i bought an unlocked gsm treo 650 from ebay and it worked great for about 3 weeks. Then it started resetting. at first it was just resetting. i read something about the sim card tray not fitting right and used the suggestion to slip paper behind the card. this didn't have any effect on it.
after a little while of playing with it, i discovered that it was incredibly sensitive on the lower left hand side of the phone and would reset itself everytime it was jostled or squeezed. i determined that the battery was having a hard time staying in contact correctly with the little battery prongs. in fact, the prong on the bottom seemed loose. i gave the old slips of paper trick a try and it seemed to work for a few days but eventually stopped.
at that time, a similar but slightly different problem arose. even though i had a fully charged battery, suddenly, the battery indicator would empty out and i would get a message saying that i didn't have enough power and the phone would shutdown. a soft reset would temporally fix the problem but it would do this too many times a day to count. it even would say that there was no battery when the phone was plugged into the charger! when this would happen, the phone would indicate that it was charging but it would say that there was not enough power and it would shut down.
i do not have many applications on it (two or three games) and what i do have is saved to my sd card.
i do not have a palm dealer in my area (i live in alaska) so taking it in for repair would be a little difficult. would i be able to take it somewhere else like best buy or radio shack? would a simple battery replacement solve the problem or does it need to be repaired?
i would just go buy the replacement or go repair it, but after dropping a college students equivalent to a small fortune on this phone, i'd rather get an opinion from you guys before i go spend more money that i don't have.
thank you so much for your time!

Can't answer your questions on the battery because it could be connections or the treo itself. I sent mine to my carrier (I bought it off ebay) and they gave me a quote on fixing it. If you do not have any warrentty I would look for a repair shop and get a WRITTEN quote.
Sorry

I have the same problem: my treo 650 keeps on resetting! I cant even get it on, it just resets and resets and resets! I believe it resets because it has a virus on it. If you can get your phone on, try to go and delete your games and songs. I think one of the games or songs has a virus on it. Only delete the game or song if you put it on your phone through your computer.

Usually resets are caused by 3rd party app conflicts. I don't know if you have a back up program but it sounds like you need to do a hard reset to clear everything off the treo. Use it like that for awhile to see if the problem is gone then reinstall 3rd party apps one at a time. (testing after each install.)

How about those of us who have consistent resets between the phone and text apps? Those are built in. I've completely removed all my text messages and related files using Filez, sometimes it helps for a couple of days, sometimes not. Yesterday I reset my phone over 25 times (I counted).

Do you have 3rd party software on the phone? Have you done a hard reset?
If you have done a hard reset and have no 3rd party apps on the treo I would check with your provider customer service.
