f you have a MP3 player will that allow you to use the MP3's for ring tones or do I need a special application like Ringo?
It comes with an mp3 player, but that will not let you set up MP3's as ringtones. For that, you would need a program such as Ringo.

Is Ringo the best or is there others
Is Ringo the best out there or are there other options? I was hoping for something a little cheaper.

Here's my review of Ringo. I would check out mRing. You might want to trial them - one at a time and see what works best for you.

Re: Ringo
Ringo Pro is GREAT, and worth every penny! The coolest thing is to be able to play ANY MP3 SONG YOU WANT as a ringtone. It also allows you to assign individual ringtones to specific people, and even to Palm "Categories" (family, business, etc.) I also recommend an app. called VolumeCare for the Treo 650. It allows you to boost every individual volume level, on the speakers and mic, well beyond the factory level. Some Treos have already seen a firmware update to address this issue, but this goes even beyond that. I do suggest that you use it CONSERVATIVELY at first, as it may be possible to actually damage your speaker by over-boosting. With that one caveat, I still highly recommend it. If you're looking for an MP3 player that can be "skinned" (even to look like iTunes!), check out "Busker". I also like "AeroPlayer, as it has the ability to download "album art", and display it as a song is playing. Just keep in mind all these goodies require you to use an SD memory card, due to the Treo's severely limited internal memory. A 1 Gig (!) card can be had for around $60.

Volume Care
I sampled this software and am not sure I want to buy it. Perhaps I don't understand the best way to use it, since it didn't seem to make a difference. In any event, how do I remove the sample program from my Treo in case I decide I don't want to keep it?

xingtone ringtone maker
I bought the xingtone Ringtone Maker off Ebay really cheap. I have not tried it yet so I can not review it. Looks easy enough but I'll take any tips from others who have tried it.

Press the Home button to go into Applications > Then the Menu button above the Email button. Select Delete and then program you wish to delete. That's it.
