I've been waiting to buy the Treo since it came on the market. Now that I'm eligible for a new phone with Verizon, I have some questions. This forum has answered many of them, except the ring tones. Without Get It Now, I can't download tones. Is there any other way to change the rings?

    Ringtones. Ringtones. Ringtones. :D

Sure, you can make any MP3, Wav or Midi (does anyone use Midi any more) with the help of a third party application like MRing or Ringo Pro.

Just get yourself an SD card to store you're MP3's.

Great! Now I have all my questions answered. I'm gonna take the plunge. BTW, I read the controversy with data plans -- FYI, the Verizon rep I spoke with today via telephone said I absolutely do NOT have to buy a data plan (the sales rep at a "mall" Verizon concession said I absolutely had to!)

    I can't wait to play.

    Thanks, for the info.

no, you do not have to buy a data plan, but if you want your treo for $100 less than advertised you do. when you sign up for an unlimited data plan, which can be cancelled at any time (i'm going to wait until after the first bill) you get a $100 instant rebate. that means my realistic savings will be around $50, but i'll take a free $50 with the ability to go on mobile web for as long as i have the data plan

most likely just at a verizon store as it is a verizon instant rebate. i always recommend going to a corporate store versus a kiosk or "authorized retailer"

Default I just bought my Verizon Treo 650 for $275.

If you are going to buy a treo 650 from Verizon, go to the independent stores. They like to give bigger deals. I just got mine for $275 out the door with a new activation. I switched from Cingular. It took me a couple of days to price shop, but I found a guy who would wheel and deal. Good Luck!

    Default Ring Tones

If you have a MP3 player will that allow you to use the MP3's for ring tones or do I need a special application like Ringo?

    thanks,
