Default Running 2 palm desktop apps on 1 computer

    Aloha,

I have a treo 650, and my wife has a Sony Clie'. Both run on Palm desktop software, but when I load the software for either, it overides any previous software and syncs the one that I am loading at the time. My wife and both sync under the same name. This is my problem, can anybody help?

You can't sync two different handhelds with the same user name on the same computer with the same software. There's no way for your computer to know that in one instance syncing "jdubbs" means your Treo but another time it may mean your wife's Clié.

You're also doomed if you try to use two separate installations of Palm Desktop (I didn't even know this installation could be done).

The easiest answer is for one of you to hard reset your device and decide on a distinct user name. If there's a duplicate PD installation on your computer, delete it as well. One computer with PD installed will be able to automatically determine which handheld is syncing based on the user name. In the PD application, you access different user's data from the pull-down menu to select which data you want to see.

When deleting a PD user or hard resetting a handheld, make sure to backup your data first.
