    System Tools or Repair S L O W I N G down, Volume Care?

    Hello all - Merry Christmas!

My 650 seems to slow down ever since I installed a trial version of VolumeCare. Coincidence? By slowing down I mean switching apps, switching screens, powering on/off, etc. It gets progressively worse day after day. Removing the battery seems to get back the response times I expect... I can only handle about 4 or 5 days before I remove the battery and reset the system.

Has anyone else installed this app with any negative consequences? Or has anyone else experienced this 'processing' slowdown? Any ideas???

    Thanks in advance.

They have released a new version of Volumecare that should resolve the slow downs and resets (Version 5.08). It's my understanding there were some programing switches that slowed things down when you boosted the applications volume.

I'm still having problems with resets with any version more recent than 4.3 but in talking with GoTreo Software, it appears to be a conflict with other apps that I am running.

It's a great program and I am impressed with the support the company has offered in trying to get Volumecare running headache free.

After some hard resets my Treo is up and running without problem. It was discovered that Xpressmail was causing the headaches. Don't know if Volumecare contributed to the conflict but I've gone 48 hours without a reset or any slowdown.

I stopped using Xpressmail and have gone to Versamail. I've installed Volumecare 5.08 and it works like a charm.

I must thank Jeff at GoTreo Software. He took the time to advise me on my problems and suggested several solutions which helped resolve my issue.

Cingular's solution was to send me an Exchange Phone (refurbished w/11,290 minutes on it) instead of finding a solution to fix my two month old phone. Don't get me wrong, Cingular's Express Exchange program is a good thing when your phone dies prematurely. But to replace a two month old phone with such a heavily used phone shouldn't be reasonable.

Well, I was using VolumeCare 5.01 since it was the trial version. I ended up removing the app and now my phone is happy again. Dunno if I'll buy the full version, which is 5.11. Maybe I'll wait for the product to mature.

How did you know your 'new' Cingular phone had 11,290 minutes on it????

    Thanks

#*786 then dial will show you the Treo's lifetimer.

What's more amusing about the replacement phone is that if I don't have either the old phone or the "new" phone postmarked for return within 10 days of reciept, Cingular will charge me a $420 replacement fee. Essentially they would charge me full price for a refurbished unit they are selling for $140.

I guess I wouldn't be so critical if my Treo had been revived but I can't help myself.
