Default screen turns off too fast...

Let me start by saying I have configured the Auto-off in Power in Preferences to 3 minutes, but the Treo shuts off the screen in 30 sec. (timed). No matter what setting I change it does this anyway...

Any ideas how I can change this behaviour?

System Tools or Repair Screen turns off in 30-seconds after phone call

Definitely related to making a call and maybe Cingilar's 1.15 ROM update which is installed in my Treo.

I have the same problem. I was demo'ing my new Treo to a friend and it kept shutting down every 30-seconds even though I had the Power off pref set for 2-minutes and checked it twice to make sure.

I read Miller's reply to your post (thanks to both of you) and installed Set Auto Power Off Gold, set the time for 5-minutes and it seemed to work, until I made a call. Checked Set Auto Power Off Gold and the time was set for 0.5 minutes. At least the app shows that the time has been reset, while the Power off pref still showed 2-minutes..

I want more functionality than you get for $5 with StopDim. Are there other solutions?

Thanks.

Good to hear, thanks.

It's on my "if all else fails" list. Spoke to Palm and they said it's a known problem withthe 1.15 ROM update and CIngular, and they're working on a patch.

They talked me through activating a "No Auto Off" setting (in Memo, interesting) but it didn't hold.

Stopdim is a possibility but I'd prefer either to not have to pay for a bug fix or to get more functionality.

Default Stopdim not working?

I downloaded the trial of Stopdim and set both settings. I then set the Power-off in Prefs to 3-minutes. I checked it with SetAutoOff and it confirmed it was set 3-minutes.

Then I dialed my own phone number and hung up -- no one home. I rechecked SetAutoOff, it showed 0.5 minutes. I'll do a longer test in a bit but it doesn't look like Stopdim is working on my Treo 650.

I'm going to have to retract my last statement as I went to lunch and was showing an associate and the screen didn't turn off. I checked the SetAutoOff setting and it was still set for 10-minutes. After lunch I made a call and then checked it again, still says 10-minutes.

Hmm. Something is working now. I'm assuming it's Stopdim. Will see what happens I the next week or so.

Hi,

This is Kevin from Palm. For those Treo 650 Cingular owners who experience the 30 seconds v 3 minutes issue, the latest Cingular update supplies a fix that allows the Treo to correctly save the Auto-off power setting. Information on the update and a link for download can be found on Palm's Treo 650 Updater 1.17 page.

Sincerely
Kevin

Yep. Fixed it for me.

The Mac version of the updater had a duplicate copy of the 8MB ZIP archive within the ZIP archive (46 files instead of the 45 the instructions said) but I noticed that, trashed it, and the updater ran without a hitch.

I removed Stopdim prior to the update but kept SetAutoOff as it allows you to go WAY beyond the 3-minutes in the Prefs Power setting.

Thanks Palm!
