    Default Scribbling for Random Number?

I apologize in advance - this is probably information that should be easy to find, but being at work right now yet frustratingly trying to get my replacement 650 set up every free minute I get, I'm running into roadblocks on every attempt. The point I'm stuck at now is in setting up my Verizon Wireless Sync. I've got all the info entered but when I hit "Sync" on my Treo it tells me to "scribble" on the screen to randomly generate a number. After a few minutes of trying it returns the message "Random number not supplied". Any idea what I can do to get a random number from my scribbling???????

Do you mean by saying wireless sync, meaning bluetooth?

Are you trying to sync with bluetooth?

have you tried writing an actual number to generate a number? I assume that you are talking maybe grafitti 2 or something like that or could you just use the keyboard to type in a number? Whats it say in your manual if anything? I use Cingular so I dont know much about VZN

Thanks for trying guys, I appreciate the fact that regardless of how vague or silly questions sometimes are, someone still tries to help.

No, not trying to connect with Bluetooth at this point. I had a 650 for a year that I recently tried upgrading to 1.05. I'm one of the ones who's phone got fried in the process and Verizon sent me a replacement unit yesterday. So I'm back to square one trying to set up the unit with hot syncing, preferences, e-mail, etc. Wireless Sync is what I use to get my e-mails sent to my Treo. During the set up process it tells you to scribble on the touch screen so that a random number can be generated (one time only, just on the very first synchronization). But I've scribbled my heart out and it won't issue a number for me.

Looks like I'm going to have to set aside some time tonight, pull out the old User Manuals (heaven forbid!) and start the whole "setting up" process from scratch. I probably haven't done things in the right order which could explain why some things aren't working the way they should.

    Thanks again.

No such thing as silly question! might not get an answer to the question you thought you were asking but thats probably best put in a different thread. There have been a lot of treos apparently fried by 105 makes me happy i'm with cingular (I think!) Heaven forbid that you should have to get out the manual to make things work right Good luck. Keep us posted on progress and obstacles We are here to help and learn.

I ran into this problem too when I first tried to set up wireless sync. The trick is you have to continue holding the stylus down, scribbling and don't pick up until it finishes and it'll work.

Oh my word, Michael - it worked!!!! How ridiculous is that!?!?!?! I have tried several times to "scribble" but I never thought to keep on scribbling till the software was satisfied! Geez! I gotta tell you, I would have never thought of trying that - thank you so much!!!!

Onto the next step in the set-up process..... I'm sure I'll be back soon with another obstacle.
