    Default SD card question

I am giving up my HP6515 and have an 4gig sd card. My treo 650 will be hear on Monday. Most places I have seen state the Treo can only read up to a 2gig card. Is this correct or is there a hack that would let the Treo read my 4gig card? Sorry if this has been asked before. Thanks in advance!

I don't believe there is any way to circumvent the 2GB maximum. Sorry.

Check out this thread from TreoCentral on a ROM hack. Again, only do it if you are comfortable with this sort of thing or you may end up with an expensive paper weight.

I just did it with my 4 gig card. Its deceptively easy. For some reason the rom hacking people made a million new words and processes to describe what you do. Basically, You download the operating system off the treo. Replace a file and upload the entire operating system back on. Very simple. If you have any questions post. Its easy and can be done.

That's awesome. Thanks for letting us know it can be done.

I have a problem, i have loaded MP3's on my treo650 almost everyway possible. And i can't seem to get the player to find them an play them. I have 512SD card that, i have loaded other things on, and treo will find those things, but for mp3 forget it. I have a folder called RN_AUDIO and it says the folder is corrupt, an can't be deleted. I can explorer the folder, an its full of just crazy trash like this for example ÄτHDÉσD$.Éσ I can't delete the folder when the card is in the PC card reader that i have. Is that where the MP3's need to go to be able to be played in the treo? Currently i have the MP3s in a folder called MP3. I use realplayer to try to play the songs, i search for them, an i get a white screen that takes for ever to go away. and then it goes back to normal.

It looks like the card is corrupted. If you can try to copy whatever contents you have in the card to your computer, do so now. Then, re-format the card which will wipe everything out.

There isn't anything you can do to fix the corruptions except with a format.

One thing to note is that you must properly "remove" the device (card reader) before you physically remove the card reader (especially if you transfer files via a card reader. Not sure you do it that way or via Real Player or whatever. Failure to properly "remove" the device first in Windows before doing it may cause these corruptions in the card.

I did you you suggested, and although it got rid of the corrupt folder, i still can't play the music. i have the music set up in this order

    Card/MP3/ the songs.

should they be in a different folder?
the songs are all 128k in format

If you're using Real Player, you will need to create the RN_AUDIO folder or AUDIO folder on the card and move your mp3 files in those folders or Real Player won't see them and play them. Stupid but that's Real Player.

If you use other mp3 players like DioPlayer, PocketTunes, Aeroplayer, mOcean, Busker, etc, they normally will search the entire card for the mp3 files so you don't need to put them in these AUDIO folder.

RealPlayer is very inferior in my view and I don't use it at all. I actually listen to ogg vorbis files with Aeroplayer and don't need to pay for a license to use it and happy with it.
