Default Serial number to ebay bidder?

I'm selling my Tungsten C on ebay because I got a Treo 650. I just had a question from a ebay member asking for the serial number because he had "already been burned once buying stolen property". Is giving him the serial number a no-no or is this legit?

I realize this is not a Treo 650 related question but thought someone might be able to help.

Thanks!

The person would be able to get the serial number off of the device once they purchase it. That would not be an issue unless it was rubbed off due to wear and use.

If they have been burned before, its not a bad question to ask, but only something worth answering if the person won the bid, not before.

Actually the serial number has been almost worn away. I'm not sure why. I've owned 2 Tunsten Cs and one had the SN easily readable but this one is no longer visable. The SN is on the box though.

Call me paranoid, but I'd not send that to him/her.
It's not like they can check it anyways.
Only the carrier can check that...well, as far as I know.

I've been doing a lot of eBay lately, and I've seen quite a few sellers state "we will not reply to requests for SN(s)..."

Just my two cents! ;-)

Thanks for the replies. I've sent an answer saying that I didn't feel comfortable suppying them with the serial number. The listing has a lot of watchers so I don't have to bank on that person to buy it
