Shortcut icons for apps on SD card - Treo Forums

Is there a way to make a "shortcut icon" from the apps that are on the SD card. Its wonderful to have different categories on the palm but when almost all my programs are on the card, it takes forever to sift through.

If i could make shortcuts for my medical programs for example to show up in the medical cateogry on the palm that would def ease things.

If I understand your question correctly you should have them all ready. You hit the apps button repeated until the apps on your card show up. If the icon is not there you need to place the program on your card in the launcher folder. You can use filez to move it.

sorry, i think u misunderstood.

I put programs on my card. They appear on my card. I would like the icon for the program to appear on my palm rather than my card bc only the palm can have categories.

for example, i have a medicine category along with some other categories on my palm. but instead of having my medical dictionary on my card, i would like it to appear with my other medical programs in the proper category. But i would still like to have the dictionary be on the card.

so id ther's a way to make a shortcut, like on a desktop in windows that would solve the problem. thanks

I believe you will will need a 3rd party launcher that may let you do this.
zlauncher may be one to look at. Search launchers here and see the ones that are available and have the options you want on them.

I think this app will do what you want. However for $5 more you could get zLauncher which will do short cuts plus a zillion other things large & small.

Another application to look at is ZLinks also by ZZTechs. I am playing with it now and it does work well with creating short cuts for applications, files, et cetera. I tried it because DTG V9 was giving me some problems, which have since been corrected.

SharkLinks (http://www.ludustech.com/sharklinks/) may still be freeware, I have no experience with it. There is also ZLinks (www.zztechs.com) that does an excellent job with links. There is also Teal Alias and TealPoint has excellent support.

There are bunches and bunches of third party launchers that provide linking capability. Ones to look at: Initiate, LauncherX, and of course ZLauncher. Each of them is well supported and the first two under constant development; ZLauncher is basically a mature application that does more than most any other launcher.

There are also "Windows" like launchers such as Launch-Anywhere (I use ZLauncher and Launch-Anywhere), Hi-Launcher (http://www.hilauncher.com/) and WinLauncher (http://www.aylin.biz/product/8/). Doing a search on Hi-Launcher and WinLauncher will produce a bit of information about them. All three are configurable to a degree, one not so and the other two to an extreme. One gives you a basic setup at the start that just plain works, and the other two let you change things until a confused mind takes over. Master Kreth uses Hi-Launcher and maybe he will chime in.

I actually use a combination of Hi-Launcher and PowerRun. The only gotcha I've seen with PowerRun is you need to exclude them from an uninstaller, if you're running one. Otherwise, your uninstaller will assume the app is being deleted every time you close it and PowerRun deletes it from RAM.
