SIM Card for a GSM Unlocked GSM Treo 650
Hi,
I wanted to know, if I buy an Unbranded Unlocked GSM Phone from Palm, does it has a slot for SIM card?
Also does it means that I can use a SIM card from some international carrier like Orange, put it in the a SIM Card slot on Treo 650 and I am ready to use the phone and start making calls?
The most important question I had was, if I purchase the SIM card, then will it give me both the voice and data service or does that depends on the kind of SIM card I purchase.
Because I just noticed some plans from Verizon which are for 39.99 for 450 mins(THIS DOESNT INCLUDE THE DATA SERVICE)....If I also want the data service like browsing net, sending emails(THEN THE cost is $79.99)...But Verizon is CDMA...
I wasnt sure how that will work out in case of a GSM phone with a SIM card...
Can someone please let me know.
Thanks!

Most purchase these phones for international use. Since GSM is the predominant network, folks with unlocked phones can purchase inexpensive SIM cards when travelling abroad.

Good question, but I'm guessing it depends on the wireless carrier.

Yes, Verizon charges $44.95 for their unlimited data plan.

Yes, Verizon is CDMA. If you purchase a GSM phone, you'd have to purchase service with a GSM provider such as Cingular, T-Mobile.
Hope this helps.
