Default Simple Question on Treo (Answering Calls)

    Hi,

I have a simple question. Many a time i find a caller giving me another no im supposed to call. Most times im behind the wheel or something like that and cant jot down the no. Now I know there are applications that will voice rec like CALL REC etc. But on my old sony ericson when someone was telling me another no that im supposed to dial. I would punch that no in while the other caller was giving it to me. Then if i hung up with the caller the second no would still be on screen so i could press green and dial them. But in the TREO its very frustrating and the second number i punched in just disappeared when i hung up the first party. How do you guys handle these kind of calls ??? any ideas ??

Because my 700P is mainly used for work, I just record all conversations automagically with Call Recorder. I also keep a pad of paper real close.

You always carry a pad of paper ? Even when your on the move. And how do i manage that when im driving ??. Its going to be difficult to take out a pad and jot down things when i driving. I think you missed the part where i said im driving. unfortunately mostly on the road. And its like murphys law. Only when im on the road and walking out and far from my car etc that a situation like this will arise where they gimme another tel no to try.

But that said, You use CALL REC ? how is it in quality, stability ? and does it also enhance sound quality making the speaker louder when on calls ?

No, I did not misread your statement and yes, I always have paper with me. I drive anywhere between 80 and 120 miles a day. Using CallRecorder is a good option and it does give you the option of setting it to operate on the pressing of the side key - problem is that you may press the key without knowing you pressed the key and you can record a conversation that you may not want recorded. In addition, manually starting the recording from within the application itself is as hazardous as jotting down 10 numbers.

Call Recorder is an excellent application - http://www.qmobilsoft.net/ is the site. If you are a Bluetooth user, it will only record on your side. If you use a standard headset, it records both sides. If you use a Bluetooth dongle, it records both side because a Bluetooth dongle simulates a wired headset connection.

Benjie, will this also boost sound volume levels on the treo so that we can hear the other party louder ? I remember seeing some call rec software that also improves the sound/speaker quality.

No, i dont use my bluetooth headset anymore. On normal handset based conversations does this app record the conversation from both sides clearly (or does the treo have to be in speakerphone mode).

    Thanks for your feedback.

VolumeCare from www.gotreosoftware.com is the application that boosts volume. On normal handsest and wired connections both sides of the conversation are recorded. Bluetooth records only the Treo side.

All I do is create a note and type the number in. Then I copy and Paste it to the phone screen and hit the green go button.

I changed one of the quick keys to access the memo feature. I used "option (blue key) + calender) to get to the memo section in just two button presses.

Since the Treo allows simultaneous use while on a call this worked great for me.

    I hope that helps.
