Default Slower than usual transfer rate!? Help?!

I just installed a custom ROM into my 650 (with FAT32) to allow me to utilize my entire 4 GB of space, and now when I try to transfer something over, everything freezes if I'm using a program like Palm File Browser, and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del my PC and remove the battery on my phone to reset it. When I just use hotsync to send over an mp3 or such, it won't really freeze, but it will take about 5 or 6 times as long as it used to to send the same file to my card when I had the FATFS and only 1.7 GB utilized on the same card. Is this just a result/con of getting to use all 4 GB, or am I missing something I need to make this work correctly again? Thanks for any help!

Perhaps the custom ROM can't overcome hardware limitations? The 650 was not made for 4 gig cards (don't think they had consumer cards that large when the 650 was made) so maybe the processor and system has trouble writing to that size.

Just a guess as I am not advanced enough to hack ROMs.

Since you have a larger card I would not mess with the sync process but would buy a card reader (under $20.00). I use a usb reader that works great.

Luckily I've got a card reader upstairs in the E-Machine PC. But thanks for the info, I was thinking it might just be a drawback of getting to use all the space.
