    Default snappermail help

since last night, i've been receiving the following error message when sending email through snappermail:

    Authorizing Pop
    Authorizing SMTP
    Incompatible SMTP Server. (SMTP

    responded not OK) Failed to
authorize to SMTP server on account MJK. Server replied 535
    Incorrect authentication data

MJK is the name of my snappermail account. i have not changed any of my settings. earlier yesterday, and in the past, it worked great. now i can't send email through snappermail. however, i did check and i can send through versamail. anyone have any ideas on what might be different with my snappermail account now? in the SMTP settings, under server settings, i've got port 25. should either "pop before send" or "use CRAM-MD5 authentication" be checked?

thanks a bunch for the help

I think this is an issue where you have to change your SMTP to your wireless provider -- notice you're in the Midwest - are you using Comcast?

Here's Palm's Knowledgebase with settings for SMTP through your wireless provider.

Weird that it was working and then stopped?

i agree it's wierd. anyway, i am with cingular in the chicago area. i read the info in the palm knowledgebase and changed the SMTP server info to cwmx.com instead of my usual domain name. it started to go thru and then stopped giving me an error message of:

relaying denied. IP name lookup failed

    any other suggestions? thanks again

the other wierd thing is that it works with versamail and not with snappermail and both outgoing smtp servers are set the same.

the fix for sprint!!!! - Today, 12:22 PM

i run my own server out of my house and when you get a relaying denied for outgoing mail from the treo you're server will give you a relaying denied!!!!!

well i looked in my logs and found out that even though there are 3 huge blocks for ipaddresses they are all under the spcsdns.net domain name!!!!!

just add "spcsdns.net" to the spam rules of you're server and alow relaying!!!!

i can now send messages all day long.

God it was so simple!! i got my phone yesterday and with in one our i had it figured out!!

and the people at sprint couldn't figure it out!!!!!!!!!!! i mena don't the have mcse's and BA graduates over there and they are to lame to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i called there tech support yesterday and told the tech MY find!! he practically fell out of his chair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and told his supervisor.

I wan to make it clear that i was the first one to discover the fix at 3pm on 4-26-2006 and am taking FULL CREDIT for the find!!!!!!

enjoy everyone. enjoy the fix i found!!!!

I run my own mail server (MS Exchange) and didn't have to do all that! Your outgoing mail was probably denied because of your ISP. You might should have pointed your mail server to deliver to your ISP's mail server as a smarthost. This way you don't violate their SMTP policy. Also, your running dynamic DNS? This can cause MX look up issues with the mail server if you don't have local DNS. Just some thoughts.
