Solving Treo 650 Reboot/Crashing Problems.
I finished speaking with a manager of a Cingular store and he told me that he found out how to stop the Treo 650 rebooting problems. The thing is that the Treo 650 is not backwards compatable with third party apps, so if you are trying to install third party apps that you had on your Treo 600 or that were for other Palm models, if they were not made specifically for the T650, it will cause it to intermitently reboot or freeze/crash.
If you only install apps made specifically for the Treo 650, you won't have that problem he said. Now how true this is I have no idea considering that I don't actually have a T650 yet and will be getting mine when Verizon releases them for consumer purchase on the 23rd but if it does have any truth to it I thought I would share it with you guys and hopefully help solve that problem which has reportedly seemed to be so common with T650 users. ;)

Thats pretty funny. Yes of course a application would heve to be OS 5 compatible, High resolution compatible and occasionaly the introduction of the NVFS and the hidden internal card has tossed developers a loop but otherwise no an application does not have to be made for the T650. So far developers of software have done a great job at catching up to hardware. You can check a list for compatibility if you are worried about a particular application. It sounds like you will need to perform a Hard Reset:

Don't hard reset yet! Its always best to try a warm reset first. Its just like a hard reset but you don't push up when it prompts you. You push any other button. Then go in and delete the likely culprit. Then soft reset. Good luck.

Follow these steps below to perform a hard reset. This will return your Treo to the Factory state, and erase all data. Once you perform another hot sync you can add back your other files.. . . . . But this time, go slow with your installations.
The other poster gave you good advice also, but only if you know how to delete the offending software and its associated databases. And if you don't know how to use something such as FileZ to delete each application database, I would still say you need to do a Hard Reset to start over.
Hard Reset
Before you do a Hard Reset, back up the info on your device. A Hard Reset will erase everything on your device, all data will be removed. All preferences and formats and all other settings will revert to factory settings. Be sure all of your third party applications are backed up as well.
- Hold down the Power button on your device. (On the Treo 600, use the one on top, next to the antenna.)
- While holding down the power button, use your stylus to push the Reset Button on the back of your device.
- When you see the "Palm Powered" screen appear, you can release the Power button.
- A screen will appear asking if you want to Erase All Data. Press UP for yes (Hard Reset). Pressing any other button will perform a Soft Reset.
- Your Treo will lead you through a recalibration. Once that is done, you can reload your backed-up information and applications.
