Some help on CallRec Usage please ??
Ive installed CallRec on my Treo 650 and am quite happy with the performance. I however have some small bugs or nuances that ive noticed.
For example. When i make calls all files get named with the tel no. But my incoming call recordings all have the last digit of the mobile no missing. Its not a file naming length issue as it happily adds a -1 or -2 for repeat calls so theres enuf space for longer names but still it cuts of the last digit. This makes it very difficult for a person to review a call and then decide to call them back. Ofcourse theres a round about way of dong it as in looking up the time stamp of the recording and then looking thru our phone log to see which call came in at the same time. But thats so cumbersome !. I thought ill ask here first before dropping a suggestion to the developers. Also when renaming recordings theres no copy/paste (since that would be helpful to copy out a tel no of an incoming call thats not in our phone book right ?).
Any suggestions ?

I used it extensively on my 700P and Centro without the symptoms you describe. Do you have the latest/greatest release?
Honolulu - 2,500 miles west of somewhere in the middle of nowhere, the land of Shakes. Kyoceria 6135, Treo 300, 600, 650, 700p, 700w, Centro & 800W, Touch Pro plus 3 other WM phones...

I have the release they officially sell on their site as on about 40 days ago. Thats when i bought it. Is that the new version ?. Secondly, what do you mean your not having this problem ?? Example someone calls you from their no. You finish the call. Later you review this call and want to save their no. Dont you find one last digit missing ? I mean the no gets saved (in my case) with 91 country code. Then 44 city code. Then the last 7 digits only of their land line. The 8th digit is never there. If they call a second time. Its the same string with an appended -1 or -2 signifying the nth time theyve called. Lastly Benjie its maybe working on a 700p and Centro ,, but isnt this the Treo 650 forum. Im looking for someone using this on a 650 to chime in. Just because it works on other models doesnt apply to the TREO 650 right ?

You have a point there. I just checked the 700P and all of the digits are there. You do have the option of contacting their support.

It sounds like you are getting the standard 10 numbers and not the 11 international numbers that you need. I remember that my old 650 had something about the ten numbers or more but Can't quite remember it. The software developer will probably have the answer for you if it works with more than ten numbers..

Just trying to learn and talk at the same time here.

Have u guys experienced another problem. Lest say your driving or something and you want to record a voice memo. You cant just press the side button and start recording. You have to first switch on the phone and then start recording. Pretty daft logic. As if the developer couldnt get it to turn on the Treo too. And whats worse is even of you do this circus with one hand and start a recording if the phone times out and the screen goes to sleep then youll have to again switch on the treo to stop the recording. Daft programming if you ask me.

The device is designed that way - what it does is keeps it from coming on accidentally. If it were not designed this way, imagine the following:
Device in the pocket. Having a conversation with a hot...the device gets bumped and comes alive and starts recording (of course without you knowing it)...conversation with hot gets hot. You get home. Set the device down. Someone picks the device up and starts listening. Hot topics = the couch.

You mean its so Hot that when i get home my a$$ is toast.
But on a realistic note. I dont think the side button will ever get triggered. Its almost impossible to trigger the side button even in an extremely tight pocket. And second Benjie. There is a password function which prevents anyone from listening to your recordings. But then i assume you knew that. So its virtually impossible to enter into the call rec interface unless you know the password. Some things are well designed. But i still think they shudve given it single push to rec rather than having to switch on the unit first and the same for stopping the rec too. How do you think the T3s used to work ??? I had a T3 earlier and it would wake on rec button push n to stop rec also. I think thats how a pocket recorder should work logically.

Day number 1 with CallRec (1st release) had me passwording. Day number 2 started with passwording, ended with no password. I concluded since I am the only one using the device, it always with me regardless of where I was, it just was not worth the hassle - and a hassle it is to fiddle with a password when busy. As for the side button not getting triggered - it does in the pocket and it can very easily get triggered during regular handling if you are not careful about positioning the hands. Happened - experienced with it. After the 1 pocket trigger, mine lived the rest of its life in my possession in a horizontal leather case. The middle son has it now (I am using an 800W) and he wants a case.
Your opinion on operation is fine, I do not agree with it, though on the other devices I had capable of recording, the device still had to be turned on (never touched a T3 - only convergent devices and the wife's Palms and BBs). A well designed device and a practical device are not always the same.
