Sound problems with Treo 650
I just purchased my Treo 650 last week, and it's been fine until tonight, where I came across a sound issue. I can hear the ringer just fine. But normal sounds is sporadic. I can't hear the click as the selection moves from icon to icon. But i can hear the error sign when I hit the keyboard and nothing happens. When the phone rings, i pick up and can't hear the person, and they can't hear me.
When I plug in the ear piece, then I can hear everything. Games, the icon selection moving around, and I can even hear my phone calls. But they can't hear me. Even when I scream the sound on their end is barely audible.
I turned the sound switch on and off, did a soft reset, and even a hard reset. My sound is still effed!!! Needless to say, this pisses me off royally.
Is there a speaker or microphone setting I might have clicked on or off by accident. any ideas.
I'm taking it back to Cicuit City tomorrow, but DAMN. This is really annoying.
Thanks

another thing I noted.
when i make or receive calls, my speaker phone option is gone. If that offers a clue.

Have you installed any 3rd party applications or utilities? Have you tried a "hard reset". I would try the hard reset before going back to CC. If it doesn't resolve the issue or it keeps cropping up -- then definitely exchange it while you can.
Treo 650 Hard Reset
Good luck.

I have indeed tried a hard reset, and it did not fix the problem.
There is some 3rd party software, but it was fine yesterday afternoon. Then while I was the Dodgers game i received a call and couldn't hear any received calls. Later that evening when I went to check my email, I noticed I could hear my own voicemail. Or any call for that matter.
If I plug my handset in, then I can hear just fine, but the mic on the both the phone or the headset weren't working, and it was a one way conversation.

If it were the 9th inning, then I would blame your problems on the entrance mayhem surrounding Eric Gagne. Sounds like this is a hardware issue. Good thing is it shouldn't be too difficult to demonstrate to Circuit City. Get yourself a new Treo 650 from Circuit City. A hard reset should have solved it if it were software related -- since it brings the Treo 650 back to it's default state.

Yeah, I figured the hardware got screwed up somehow.
Shame too. We'll it's only been a week so Circuit City should have no problem exchanging it. I just hope they aren't sold out.
Thanks

I am having the same trouble. I just bought my 650 THIS MORNING and within a matter of hours (about eight hours to be exact), my phone is doing the EXACT SAME THINGS you've described earlier. (FYI, I got mine through Cingular.)
I have also found that when you make a call, the speaker, the phone itself, and not even the bluetooth headset works...only the wired headset that came with the phone works. If you unplug the wired headset during a call, at that time will the speaker option become available again (but nothing else really works). If you hang up and try to make another call, you have to repeat the process.
So far, this is the only place I've found after hours of searching that even begins to describe the trouble I'm having. Right now, I'm trying to uninstall various apps one-by-one and soft-resetting in between, just to see if that works--since it seems that it MAY have quit working after I installed the software from the CD it came with--Adobe, Solitare, Document Viewer, etc. ...
If I have any luck, I'll be sure to post my findings. Otherwise, it's a return trip to Cingular for me tomorrow...
