sprint and roaming - Treo Forums

I'll come into my sprint area and my phone will roam uptp 15 minutes before transferring to a sprint tower. My wifes cell was on sprint right away. Hmmm. I am getting more roaming charges lately but what would cause this??

Signal strength is fine and is comparable to my my wifes phone once it switches to sprint?

I've had the same experience. I usually just cycle the phone off and back on so I can get at data, voicemail, etc. I'm not sure if it's the Treo or Sprint. I guess I may know soon if UPS ever gets here with my 700p.

I did a cyle off and on, the treo did a network search then went into roam. Wifes phone still getting a great signal.....I'm p-ssed so I call sprint they had me or suggested I do a soft reset and see if that helps.

They did say I could take it to a sprint store and they could test the phone/antenna????? But could not tell me which stores could test the treo. He created a ticket and someone is going to call me... not sure what they are going to call me but I'll let you guys know.

You could either turn off digital roaming, or call *2 and request a PRL update. They will flag your account, then have you call back and your phone should reprovision itself. The PRL update is the latest info on Sprint towers, etc.

I have checked for updates but didn't know I could request them. Is this something that needs to be done by us, does sprint send them automatically like other brand phones?

Got to be able to roam unfortunately. I am impotanto!!

The PRL updates have to be requested. Once they flag your account, you just call *2 again, and you should get a recorded message telling you not to hang up until your phone is finished updating.
Firmware updates still have to be done the old-fashioned way.
