    Default Sprint or Cingular

Well, I'm going to take the plunge this weekend and change providers to get a Treo 650. I just neeeded some advice on who to switch to over to. Cingular or Sprint. It looks like Sprint has the better data/voice deal but I heard Cingular has better service (ie less dropped calls) Anyone have any advice?

well I'll say that I do have Cingular and I get very good reception in most places except inside my house (for some reason it's a wireless signal pit of hell, even my router doesn't work well) other than that I rarely have a problem anywhere. I do wish their unlimited data plan was less than $40 a month, hell that's how much I pay for my cable internet.

I've been with Cingular for a little over ten years now (originally Bellsouth Mobility then Cingular). The only complaint I have with Cingular is with their store fronts. Too many customers, too few sales reps. I can go into a Cingular store, find the accessory I need and still have to sign-in and wait an eternity to pay for the item.

Cingular has really good coverage in the South and I would say far better than Sprint. I've had some weak signals but way out in the middle of South Alabama where there's nothing to begin with (not necessarily a bad thing).

Sprint is growing in popularity down this way but the coverage isn't quit as good as Cingular's. Cingular's pricing is a little better than Sprints (from what I remember).

Well I decided to go with Sprint. Cingular's pricing was a bit high for my wallet. Also i found out my dad's company receives a discount on the monthly bill with Sprint. So this time this week, i'll have my Treo 650. (I feel as if I'm joing some type of special club or something)

Awesome. I think you'll be happy with Sprint. A good friend of mine lives in Chicago. While I know it's a big state, he always praises his Sprint service. I had them here in NY and loved it. Right now, I'm with Cingular, but I'd jump in a second. You simply cannot beat their data package.

    And...welcome to the club!

What part of NY are your in? Do you use your Treo 650 in the city? I used to have Sprint and used it primarily in Long Island. I was very happy with the service.
