    Default Srint PCS to Verizon?

I upgraded from a Treo 600 to a 650 (with comparatively little difficulty), and have given my 600 to a friend. My cell service is Sprint PCS, his is Verizon. Will he be able to switch his Verizon account to the 600? And if so, will Verizon help him do this, or will he need assistance from some other source?

    Thanks in advance.

The answer is yes as the device is compatible with both networks. The rest - well, for a while they stopped doing so unless you purchased the device from them. I believe a recent ruling from some government agency made them start again.

Unfortunately, your friend won't be able to activate the Sprint 600. The two carriers who use CDMA technology (Sprint & Verizon) don't allow for interchange of service between them. That can only happen with GSM service (i.e. Cingular, T-mobile, etc.), where you can (with an unlocked GSM phone) swap SIM cards.

Thanks to both of you. If it's technically possible, and the issue is one of business/commerce, we have a strong case. We go to the Verizon store and say, "My contract is up, I can take my business to Sprint PCS and you won't get another nickel out of me. Or, you can find a way to make this work."
    I'll keep you posted.

Good info. I didn't know it was possible again. Thanks, Ben.

Thanks, kd. I'll check with them if Verizon can't/won't make it work. Have you been pleased with Cricket's service?

I am having so many problems with my sprint plan and bill I would move to alltel or a local cell company if my treo and cell phones would work. That is probably why they won't enable the phones to change carriers to hold onto their prisoners...

Plunker, I had problems with Sprint at first (I kept getting billed for the initial free 3-month ISP service plan), but when I called and explained the situation, they reimbursed me not only for the over-charges for those months, but they refunded my entire bill for those months! So, while we started with a rocky romance, we're getting along well now. Sorry it's not working for you as well.
