A few weeks ago I was plagued with an infinite loop problem, and although I doubt that yours are caused by this, mine happened to be related to a video that was accidentally recorded on my Treo. I did a warm reset, and after eventually figuring out what was the trouble, I deleted a massive video file. After that everything when back to normal.

I've had the same problem. I found after the reset (remove battery case, press reset and on off buton, release on/off when round palm logo appears), when prompted to confirm the erase I was pressing the centre ok button instead of the up button. Once I pressed the up button to confirm the erase I was able to run through the setup routine and resync it.
