Stuck in earpiece mode

I have a wired earpiece that I've been using and for some reason my phone has been stuck in earpiece mode even when the earpiece is not plugged in. When I answer the phone or make a phone call and I don't have the earpiece in it makes the call but does not let me talk or hear anything. The speaker phone option is also not available since it is stuck in earpiece mode. The rest of the phone works fine.

Any thoughts?

Some 650s have a weak audio jack. What's happening is a sensor inside the jack has gotten jammed, so the Treo thinks you still have a headset plugged in. Sometimes you can knock the sensor loose by plugging in a headset and unplugging it, but not always. How long have you had your 650? You may be able to get it replaced.
