Syn with bluetooth - Treo Forums

I can sync using USB but not with bluetooth. The treo 650 gets connected (The Bluettoth device is displayed as connected in the control panel -- Bluetooth -- devices) but it is unable to sync. I get the message: The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again.

Make sure you have your BlueTooth Serial Connecton service on your computer configured with a COM port to use and that your HotSync manager is set to "local" being checked. In your HotSync setup manager, make sure that under the local tab, you have selected the same COM port as what you configured your BlueTooth Serial Connection service to use, and set the speed in that tab for "as fast as possible".

Repair the devices if needed and try to sync again.

Hopefully that fixes your problems.

Also, and I hate to let the air out of the balloon on this one, but syncing via BT is MUCH slower then syncing via the cable. It usually takes me about two minutes at most to do it via the cable while it took me well over seven minutes to do it via BT this morning. Also, Mac users: Syncing via BT is not recognized by iSync (at least on Tiger). You best bet is to use the cable. It' faster, quicker and more recognized.

I have purchased a Kensington Bluetooth USB adapter. Everytime I try to hotsync with bluetooth, I get the following message:
Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application.

I have tried Comm 3 where the blue tooth serial port is (Comm 3). I have also tried everyother port that appears under HotSync Local. I even activated a serial port (2) on my bluetooth services and I still receive the same HotSync error. Any suggestions?

Sometimes a simple reset on your treo will then allow you to bt hs. Have you tried that. I've had the same error in the past it always worked for me to simply do a reset. I don't know why it does that.

No, but every once in a while when you get that error a simple soft reset should solve it.

This is crazy but... I can't find how to sync with bluetooth. I installed the bluetooth on the computer and set everything up. I did one sync and everything went perfect..

I went to my palm to hot sync again but cannot find where to start the hotsync!! Do you have to go through the setup menu to hot sync or what am I missing??

Everything is working but.... Do you have to go through setting up devices to hotsync with blue tooth to get to the launcher? No launcher hot sync key?

You just tap the hot sync icon on your treo and select your bluetooth sync name from the drop down menu below the hot sync icon. Make sure that it is also set to "local" and not "modem". Then press the hot sync icon and it should connect.
