Sync with Contacts worked, & then ?

Hello:

First attempt: used HotSync Outlook & Contacts sync - they all came over fine.

Browsing the Contacts by Category on the Treo i noticed I had a few random categories - so I go into Outlook on the PC, move these straggling contacts into existing categories, deleted the random categoes.

I go back to Hotsync, change the conduit from "sync the files" to "desktop overwrites handheld", and now....N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

I check the Log: "OK Contacts"

I have NO contacts on my Treo. If I add one on the Treo, it gets erased after the HotSync.
I have 3 default Categories on the TreO (Business, Personal, QUickList). If I delete them, then get reinstated on the HotSync.

To try and FIX the problem, I add MS Office SP-2. Same result.

Any ideas? Thx - JE

In the meantime....I unistalled Palm Desktop, reinstalled - and viola!

Back in business, with Categories intact.

I just did a hotsync and now all of my calendar is gone. I've been journaling here for ever. Kids milestones etc. HELP! I'm falling apart here.

I believe the hotsync will back up the files before it shuts down. You should be able to restore. Just have to research it.

Gone from pc or handheld...you can reset your options in the hot sync manager as long as one of the devices has the info. You can set it for pc overwrites or handheld overwrites to restore your data.
