Synching both Treo and Palm V onto same computer?
I have a Palm V forever and bot the Treo a few months ago. I was able to synch the Treo information onto the desktop but couldn't do it for the Palm V (I got a new computer a couple of weeks ago). Can anyone help me, can I synch both PDAs' information onto the same computer?
Second question, how do I transfer all my information on Palm V to Treo 650, if I want to do it?
Thanks.

Here's an article from the palm knowledgebase on how to upgrade from your existing device to your Treo 650. Here's the info on syncing multiple devices. Just be sure not to sync old apps that are not Treo friendly.
Hope this helps.

I assigned two different user names for the Palm V and the Treo 650. I synched the Treo with no problem. But when I tried to synch the Palm V, the message said "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Plesae check your setup and try again."
I synched the Treo with the USB connector, but I used the original cradle that came with the Palm V to try to synch and it didn't work. I'm at a loss... Could it be cos I installed Treo desktop software and it's too advanced for the poor Palm V?
Thanks.

Hello,
Those two articles Chris linked to are important. I'll also add "Synchronize with multiple handhelds or with multiple desktop computers". As far as the error message is concerned, try the troubleshooting steps in 'The connection between your handheld and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again'. Closely inspect the connections Palm V > Computer, blow them out with air, give them a gentle wiggle, etc.
Sincerely

Something pathetic happened while I was trying to synch my Palm V. I did check the connections, the cradle and then re-synched, but it didn't work. So I did a soft reset (desperate) to the Palm V. So after it's rebooted, the stylus is out of focus to the screen!! So now I can't use the stylus to do anything to the Palm V. It seems that I need to do a hard reset in order to fix this problem...but before I can do a hard reset, I need to save the information onto the desktop so it can be re-loaded to the handheld afterwards. So now I have a looping problem. Can't use my Palm V till I do the hard reset, but can't do the hard reset until I can synch, which was my original problem...
Is this problem getting out of hand?

Hi Kitty:
I haven't looked at my old Palm V in a long time, but isn't there an option to be able to recalibrate the screen without doing a hard reset?
This is, of couse, assuming I haven't misunderstood your post.
Good luck,
SteveTaz

Try "Calibrating your touchscreen (digitizer)". About half-way through the article there's info specific to this.

Yes, I have looked at the link regarding how to recalibrate the Palm already and apparently a soft reset does not fix the problem. This is why I think I need to do a hard reset. But a hard reset requires me to save all my information to the desktop beforehand, and I have this synching problem.
At this point, what is my best option? Should I send it to somewhere to fix? If so, where?
Thanks for any help that you guys can provide!

If you can't manage in any way to tap on the Welcome application and neither screen protector nor debris under the screen appear to be the cause, as suggested in the article, there's a link for repair at the bottom of that page. Or someone here may have a line on someone reputable.
You could try Maceyr's site, she has some suggestions farther down her page, here.
Type "palm v" calibrate into yahoo and carefully read some of the results, maybe you'll get a lead. Please understand I can't officially vouch for anything suggested regarding the last two possibilities and only supply them for your reference.
Sorry for your trouble, kitty.
Sincerely
Kevin
