Default Synchronization failing

I've recently purchased a 650 to synch with outlook. It has worked fine until recently and now I cannot seem to get it to connect to my desktop or laptop. My work colleague is also having the same issue and we are not convinced that a full reset is the answer (as per palm support) - any ideas - should I take the phone back?

What message are you getting when you sync. I have to reset my bluetooth adapter sometimes to get the pc to see my treo.

how are you syncing? USB or bluetooth?

I'm only using USB - the message is "The connection b/w your h/held comp & the desktop could not be established. Please check ur setup & try again."

It was working fine initally - 4wks, & then fails now to connect.

This really sounds like what happens when I am syncing. In my case I believe it is due to a poor connection on the end of the sync cable to the phone. I have to plug and unplug several times before the connection establishes. I understand this is not uncommon. Mine did start out fine for the first few weeks or months. Who remembers? It still connects, I just have to encourage it and move the plug a bit to the right when connecting to the phone.

Occasionally I also will see an error that states something to the effect "There is an unknown USB device attached...", but again, after two, three, etc retries at plugging it does work.

Are you using a cable or a cradle? I believe using a cradle this is not a problem.

I had the same problem and the cause was that the Hot Synch Manager was not running. If that service is not running it will not synch w/ the PC
