Hi Chris,
If you can help it would be priceless. I have been a Palm fan since there was "palm professional". I love them and am considered a pro among friends. I got a TREO 650. I have always Sync-ed with my work server <laptop> calendar. I travel all the time. Then I sync with the home computer to make travel calendar available to my spouse. Since I loaded the TREO 650 software on my work laptop, every item duplciates. Every time I sync. I have >1000s of duplicates since my calendar goes back years.
I called the TREO help people. They were essentially useless. They told me to do essentially what you have suggested but it just keeps happening. My calendar is my life and it changes continually. I just want it to stop duplicating going forward. I have used Stevencreek "Undupe". It helps. Chapura has an "undupe" also but I have so many dupes it crashes. My I.S. department is baffled. HELP! I am willing to pay.
Jim

First off, use Palm Desktop to de-dupe your contacts, events, etc on your main computer - Computer 1. You might want to consider a hard reset to clear your Palm. Sync computer 1 to your Palm. Then, on your second computer, set it up your HotSync so that your Palm is the overwrites desktop. I'm not sure of the exact setting, but you want your second computer to basically import anything from the Palm. Then, use your Palm to enter contacts, events when you're on the go. This way, the only real sync occurs between the Palm and computer 1.
Basically, I only entered contacts and events on either computer 1 or the Treo. The second computer (in my case, my work computer) only brought in contacts, events from the Treo. So, it really didn't "sync". That avoided the duplicates. This allowed me access to my contacts at work and didn't cause any duplication.
There may be a better solution.
Good luck. |
