    Default time zones and appointments

    Hi,

    I have the following problem:

I'm on the East Coast. I schedule a meeting in Outlook for the next day at 2pm on the West Coast and sync with my Treo. I then get on a plane and fly to the West Coast. When I get off, my Treo syncs to the local time, and it then moves my 2pm appointment *back* by 3 hours to correspond with the local time...

That is fairly idiotic since my appointment is still at 2pm, not at 11am. Is there a way to keep the appointment times absolute? If I schedule a 2pm meeting, it's at 2pm no matter where I am.

    Any settings/software/tricks to do this?

    Thanks so much!!!

If you are in NY at the time you make the appointment, why not put it into the calendar based on NY time (which is where you are) and when you arrive on the West Coast, the time should be correct, no?

well, no. if i'm in NY and i know that I need to meet with Mr. X in California at 2pm, then I write the appointment down as 2pm. When I arrive in Cali, it moves the appointment time back by 3 hours b/c it figures that it should correspond to the local time. However, my appointment is still at 2pm.

Am I being clear or is that still confusing?

    Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. I live in Hungary but often travel to the UK. Before I leave on a trip I make appointments with people in the UK. Occasionally while I'm in the UK I make appointments for after my return to Hungary. These all get moved when I change timezone. Is there any way to get round it other than not changing timezone but changing the time manually? It makes the "Visiting" timezone setting a waste of space, and the automatic network updating.
