    Default TomTom Maps Question

I finally got my Navigator 5 in today after waiting over 3 weeks for it. Installation for me couldn't have been easier. My question is how do I plan a route accros multiple states? For instance, If I want to go from Lousiana to Florida, the two states are in to different regions (South Central and South Eastern) and can't both be loaded at the same time.

You have to load the states as a package. (You'll see an option to load, e.g., VA + DC + MD + etc.) You may end up having to load some states that you don't want this way, but it's the only way I know of that will work. I live in Virginia, but frequently travel to DC and MD, as do most people in the metro DC area, so I ran into the same problem that you did at first. Make sure you have a big enough SD card to load all the maps you'll want.

The other option would be to load the destination state from wherever your home is, and then just cruise the interstates the old fashioned way (i.e., paper map). I've done that for long trips, as I don't really need Tom Tom to tell me how to get to Indiana from Virginia, and wouldn't want the Treo on that whole time anyway. Your needs might be different, though.

That kind of sucks because there is nothing that has LA and FL in it. Granted, I know how to get from LA to FL, but it just that I would like to load the details in for the trip before I left. No big deal I guess, because wehn I get to the FL line, I could put my destination in then and it will take me where I need to go. Thanks for the heads up. That was a big help.

Yep, that is what you have to do... Infact do POI and choose Border Crossings. I had to do that when going to Canada from Buffalo NY.
