TomTom Navigator 5 wired GPS - going, going, gone?
Maybe this has already been reported here in the past, but being I relatively new user, I was unsure.
I was investigating the wired TTN5 product because I wanted to be able to use my BT earpiece for phone calls without losing GPS connectivity. The wired version has disappeared from the TomTom website though. I spoke with someone in their Customer Support department who told me they are not continuing sales of that product (don't know what that means for service/support of already purchased ones). She suggested that online resellers won't be getting additional stock.
That being said, if I purchased one online, I think I need to buy a separate car kit. I couldn't find a specific one for Treo 650. Does anyone using the wired version have a suggestion?
Thanks!
EDIT: Oops, maybe I should have posted this in the Bluetooth forum...

Hi,
That really sounds dissapointing. I don't understand why TomTom has chosen not to sell wired-GPS-receivers via their website. But these are my suggestions:
1. support- If you have purchased a TomTom-product (software and/or hardware) you have the right on support (unless it's second handed
)
2. GPS-receivers, you could try shops or stores where they do sell the wired-gps-receivers of TomTom. You would need a certain car-kit-holder with the possibilty to connect with your carlighter-charger and a connection for your gps-receiver to plug in.
4. there a so-called Y-cables. This is a cable that charges the pda and the gps-receiver with one car-lighter-cable but with seperate outends..
3. you could try a third party wired-gps-solution for the Treo. As the software of TomTom accepts third party gps-receiver.
4. you can use the bluetooth gps-receiver and when navigating in car, put the treo on speaker (when you would receive a phonecall)
Hope that this information can be usefull for your benefits.
Ciao
