Default tomtom questions

thinking about using my treo 650 for a gps unit.

Does the palm version ($299.00) of TomTom let you get calls while using the GPS? I read where the TomTom navigator 6 does.. but does it work well?

Do you have to program your route then sync or use a card reader? Or can you enter your destination on the treo and take off?

Does TomTom work like a standard gps receiver and let you plot waypoints in? (I like to find where I have caught fish..all two of them)??

Is the program screen easy to read on the treo screen?

Thanks in advance..I tried a search but no answers...

You will get calls when using TomTom, you answer as you normally would and when you hang up it should take you back to the map, at least mine does.

You can enter your destination on the treo itself in the program or if you already have it programmed in your contacts and take off.

Regarding the way points... I'm not entirely sure about that particular feature, or if it's even available, if it's there I haven't used it.

The program itself is pretty easy to read, self explanitory

Assuming TomTom 6 is an improvement over TomTom 5, then it's a great GPS. Off the bat, you get all the maps preloaded onto the SD card. That in itself is a major improvement. The only fault of TT5 was the installation process. From a functionality standpoint, it rocked.

Not sure about waypoints, there are favorites. POI's are VERY good. Helped me find Starbucks to feed my addiction.

Anyone using Tom Tom 6 - Is there a way to get the address of a POI once you find the POI in the list? For example, I search for a POI by typing the name "Blockbuster" or part of it, and it pulls up several locations. I want it to show me the address of each one so I can see if that is the one someone was talking about or that I remember going to, or if that is even the closest one. However, the only option I can see currently is to pick one as the place to navigate to. Any ideas?

I have Navigator 5 on Treo 650. You can "navigate to" a POI you have found. No need to insert an address. I believe you can then make it a "favorite" but I haven't done that. It is also possible to insert POIs from .gpx files such as geocache locations/files. Very cool. TomTom Navigator is one of the most important apps for me. A little disappointed that the maps have not been updated. I am not sure I would like the Navigator 6 preloaded SD setup. I like having my maps and other things important to me all on one SD card. I wouldn't want to be removing and inserting SD cards, especially in the car.

But I WANT to see the address of the POIbefore I select it as the one to go to. Oh well, I don't think there is a way.
Regarding the SD card switching problem, I was concerned about that too, but I just copied everything from the included 1GB SD card to my own 2 GB card and now I have everything all on 1 card. Of course, I can no longer have as many MP3s and more than 1 or 2 movies on my card, but it's worth it. To minimize the space needed for Tom Tom on my 2 GB card, I also deleted the maps I will never use. It was very easy to do.
