Transferring data from old Palm Desktop

I have data saved from an old trusty Handspring Visor Deluxe way back from 1998 onwards, and also a Palm Tungsten. I copied over the User folder from my old Palm Desktop, to the new folder I am using for my Treo 650. The problem I am having is that while I see all the old data, i.e. contacts, addresses, etc. in Palm Desktop, the same data is not being transferred to the Treo. If I select an individual Memo, let's say, and double click it, and then Sync again, then only that entry syncs fine... What is going on here?
