I asked something similar to this before, but wanted some more details (sorry for repeat).

Currently Verizon user waiting for Treo, found out that my service with VZ expires on July 3rd, thinking of switching to Cingular because there reception is better in the location that I spend most of my time out of the office.

Is cingular with GSM inferior to VZ Cdma? Is EV-DO only a cdma technology, how soon will this tech be available?

I moved all of four numbers from Verizon to Cingular and have been extremely happy with Cingular. Cingular had some initial growing pains in my area after the AT&T acquistion, but it all seems to have smoothed out. Customer service, for me, has been excellent and the phone service is, in my opinion, better than Verizon as I am getting service in places Verizon wasn't reaching, indoors in particular. In all fairness to Verizon, they do a good job, but if you do any traveling, the rest of the world is GSM and I need that compatability.

Also... At the time I made the switch, Verizon had the worst selection of phones available. The unlocked GSM world provided far more more hardware options.

At the end of the day, if Cingular is serving areas you frequent better than Verizon, I would go with Cingular as they seem to be standing strong in all areas and will not be going away any time soon and their plans are competitive. I'm sure someone will beg to differ! ;)
