I have Cingular & the unlimited net. If you do the 'unlimited media net' it's like $20 bucks.

Yup, I'd recommend that, b/c I ran 40MB in one month, which I thought it was lite usage personally.

Mmm'k see you around...

I got the unlimited internet package for $20 on Cingular too. I also added 200 text messages for another $5.

Look at the MEdia Net packages. They have the MEdia Net Unlimited for $19.99.

Yes, but will Medianet get me to read my email on Yahoo, or not?

I have done pretty much all there is to do on MediaNET.
Terminal Services, SSH, remote command prompt, etc.

As far as I can tell, the only reason they have two different price packages is because they -know- you'll be using a ton more data with a PDA vs. a cell phone, and charge accordingly.

(But, yes, you can do your Yahoo either way...)

PS - You will get a lot of pushback from anyone you talk to at Cingular...they don't want you paying 1/2 as much for the same data service.

Default Cingular data plan

I asked a Cingular Rep about the difference...

They told me that if I were going to get my yahoo mail and attachments I have to have the data packages...

That I can not get my mail and attachments with media net...Is that true?

Gwen

That is NOT true . . You will need some sort of media package. Many of us here are using unlimited media net with Cingular instead of the PDA connect. I used it as a barganing chip when I bought my Treo. . . With MediaNet, you get data. That includes mail with file attachments. MediaNet and PDA connect are the same service. Reps are told to sell PDA connect to persons buying PDA's, and Unlimited MediaNet for Phones. Tell them you want the Treo with unlimited MediaNet. That covers Mail/Mail with attachments.

It doesn't cover Instant Messaging however. If you do a lot of IM's, you might need to add some sort of IM package. From PLWebb's post above, I believe I got the exact same plan, adding 200 IM's per month for $5.00
