Treo 650 and Motorola IHF1000 car kit problem fix
I had problems with my Treo 650 and Motorola IHF-1000. Calls would suddenly end on the car kit side with the Treo still connected to the caller. After looking at several forums, I think I've figured out the fix.
1. First, make sure your Treo has the latest ROM software update. In phone mode, under Options menu, look at Phone Info. Software should read 1.05a for Verizon. (Be Careful: I actually had an endless reset loop during my attempted update and my wireless mode wouldn't start up even after a hard reset. Verizon ended up shipping me a replacement with update already loaded.)

2. Next, without the phone in the car, clear the IHF1000 of all paired phones.
3. Away from the car and IHF1000 off, tap on Bluetooth icon on Treo and set Bluetooth to On and Discoverable Yes.
4. Now get into car with Treo, turn on IHF1000 and go through pairing process as in instruction manual.
5. ALWAYS keep Bluetooth ON and Discoverable on Treo as you enter car. This keeps the sudden end of call from happening. Don't use the car kit until the voice states "Phone 1 (or whatever phone was paired) ready." Otherwise, removing the battery and resetting the Treo while in the car solves the problem.
Of note, my wife's Sprint Treo 700p was also doing the same thing with the IHF 1000, but again, making sure Bluetooth was on and always discoverable prior to entering the car seems to have solved the problem. Also again, make sure to clear all paired phones on IHF1000 first and then go through pairing after the Treo's Bluetooth has been on as you enter the car. I wonder if people with the IHF850 are having similar problems. BTW, Volvo uses the unbranded IHF1000.
Thanks to all those others out there on this and other forums who gave me the tips and kept me from having to remove the installed car kit.

Treo 650 and Motorola IHF 1000 Compatibility
Elrond5000 is a genius! The Treo 650 is compatible with the Motorola IHF 1000 car kit if you follow Elrond's fix. The key is upgrading your bluetooth software on the Verizon Treo 650 to 1.05a - available through Palm. Amazingly, neither the Motorola techs nor the Verizon techs had a clue when I called them repeatedly. I think I was talking to someone in India. The Best Buy techs were good guys and handled the installation properly, but this issue was understandably beyond their expertise.
Thankyou, Elrond5000!

Thanks for the kind words, Ray. But I didn't come up with this fix; I just got information available from different sites and put it in one place. The internet is truly an amazing thing!
