Treo 650 and Palm Universal Keyboard

I have seen several threads on compatibility issues with the Treo 650 and the Palm Universal Keyboard 3169WW.

Here is my question - I deleted the old keyboard.prc off of my Treo 650, and then installed driver V1.08 from the Palm website. When I try typing stuff in Memo or even using the test string on the keyboard settings page, I get the wrong characters (backspace gives me a letter "b", etc.).

Does anybody know how to fix this?
