Default Treo 650 as a universal remote...

Hey guys and gals,

First off let me say that this is a great site with a TON of much needed information for treo owners. Keep up the GREAT work! It helps out!

K...enough brown nosin'...Has anybody used their treo as a universal remote? I read the other day (don't remember where) that you can get software to use the treo as a touch screen remote through infared. I just think it would be really cool to use my treo as a touch screen remote. Thanks!

Yeah it's nice but the IR isn't strong enough for long distances, so you pretty much have to be 2 feet infront of the reciever. You can get a SD IR device that strengthens the signal. Hope that helped.

ahh...thats what I figured. My apt. is really small anyways so I might go ahead and try it out, just for the "cool" factor. Thanks though!

The IR range is probably not better than 4 feet at best.

NoviiRemote Blaster provides both the software and SDIO IR device. There is a review of it on this site here.

Default IR Boost

I've seen IR magnifiers for Treos being sold.

Well thanks again guys, the review doesn't look to promising . Maybe the treo can't do EVERYTHING perfectly.
