    Default Treo 650 - Cingular - Random Display on/off

I have a Treo 650 from Cingular. I have random display on conditions. It does NOT have this condition when the phone is OFF. The display will light up and stay on for 30 to 90 seconds [it vary's] and then will come back on again. I do NOT have auto e-mail enabled.
My signal strength also varies at my home location, where I notice the most random display on/off scenario's. Is it a feature of the 650 to light up the display whenever the signal is lost or acquired?

Has anyone see any of these symptoms?

I have checked this forum for this topic using: random display on/off, cingular display on, 650 display, display on off. Sorry if I missed the answer somewhere else.

This is a known issue with Cingular and the Treo 650. For me, it went away entirely when I upgraded to 1.17. I think I've seen a few people claim that it still is an issue for them with 1.17, but for most, that seems to solve it. It's not really harmful ... but definitely annoying.

Default Updated info: Release 1.17 currently loaded.

Problem didn't go away, only got worse. Battery life is affected. I suppose I could just get a bigger battery, but it is annoying.

I wonder if it could be your SIM tray. You might find some useful information on this thread: Treo 650 turns on spontaneously hundreds of times/day
