Treo 650 Crashes When Answering Call - Treo Forums

I've had my Treo 650 with Cingular for about 6 months now and I've never had this issue: for the last 2 days, whenever I try to answer a call, it blacks out and restarts. Needless to say, this is annoying as it keeps me from answering my calls.

Any possible solutions?

SAME PROBLEM as in a topic i made.. i installed ringo and then deleted it and that solved my problem ...

Do you have any other software that could interact with an incoming call? Does viewing your contacts work ok? I'm trying to figure out if it's a problem when the Caller ID search is done against your contacts.

Thanks for your help.

To be clear, the phone shuts down when I touch the "answer" button on the touchscreen when a call is coming in; the phone seems to search using caller id just fine. And yes, I can hit the touchscreen for "contacts" no problem.

I do have "VolumeCare" but I've had that for months with no problem. Other than that, I haven't downloaded any new apps recently.

Any further ideas?

To tell whether it's a software problem, you could do a hard reset so that only the default software is there. Then see if answering an incoming call causes a reset. Make sure to do a hotsync before doing the hard reset, so that you can restore everything after performing the test. If it still happens after a hard reset it's probably a hardware problem of some kind, like something going wrong with the SIM card maybe.

Just a few things to check and then we will say that its something that requires a reset:

First off, do you have a program such as a launcher replacement (Initate, Facer, LauncherX, ZL) that automatically pops up when your device turns on...

Do you have any emails in your Outbox or Sent folders in any of your email programs (SMS, VersaMail, Snapper, Chatter, etc.)...

Are you using a system utility such as Uninstall Manager...

If any of these apply, turn off the launcher, turn off the system utility, delete all emails in outbox and sent mail folders, and make sure all alarms are cleared. Then do a soft reset and hold the UP button ONLY. This will take you into a warm boot. Do another reset and then turn your phone radio back on. Call your phone from another phone and see if it continues. If so, then its possible that your network database is corrupt. This is best solved with a hard reset and then loading your applications back one sync per app.

My problem is a bit different, my phone resets when this one person calls me, all other incoming calls are fine? Any ideas, I did the soft reset and still the same so I removed them from ny contact list and put them back in, they have not called back yet so I don't know if that worked or not. Has anyone had problems with just one person causing this, and it happends from any of their 3 numbers?

Do you happen to have that person in multiple places in your addy book perhaps?
