Camera or Multimedia Treo 650 Does Not Sync With Outlook

I am one of the many people who have found they are unable to synch with Outlook. On the forum in the Palm web site there are many other individuals who get the OLERR error. There are three fixes suggested, but they do not work for the vast majority of users and did not work for me either.

I have all my records on my TREO and none in Outlook and even when I hard reset the TREO I find I still get OLERR errors.

It is unacceptable that a business phone like this has this many problems synching to the number one business calendar software.

Any one have any new fixes to try.

From what I've seen, the Treo 650's VersaMail app doesn't synch with Outlook the same way it did with previous PalmOne devices. Here's my solution: Although I access my email on the Treo, I save messages on the server for later download to the desktop - and Bcc copies of my Treo-generated replies to myself so I get a copy in Outlook (there is a setting to configure VersaMail to always do this). Then I have a rule in Outlook to move the Bcc messages to my Sent folder. It works pretty well...

    Favorite OLERR Solution

I had the same problem. The Palm site was useless as you mentioned. All their solutions failed. It appears the problem occurs more frequently when someone upgrades from a previous Palm (in my case a Tungsten E) to a TREO 650. Something gets corrupted in the HotSynch process. When I looked at my HotSYnch actions I found several HotSynch actions labeled as DO NOTHING, but they were still their (they were left over from the upgrade). Like any experienced user when all else fails "reinstall" or "reboot". I changed my Palm Folder to Palm_Old and deleted the entire Palm Desktop, rebooted my computer and reinstalled the Palm Desktop that came with my Sprint Treo 650. I have it set to synch with Outlook 2003 -- and everything worked fine, no errors. Yes, I had to reinstall some 3rd party links, but that was no problem.

Be careful with Palm solution of using a 3rd party application to solve this problem. It is not likely to solve the OLERR problem. If you decide to try make sure you use the Chapura PocketMirror Professional XP, not the regular PocketMirror Professional.

    Hope this helps.

This is the best OLERR solution for you guys out there... this error is because of outlook. not the software that came with the phone. got this error with 3 pc's out of 15. called up PALMONE TECH SUPPORT not Cingular not AT@T not Sprint nor Verizon but PALMONE TECH SUPPORT they fixed 2 of them by doing some trouble shooting stuff but both PC's finally worked after we performed DETECT AND REPAIR in outlook (which is located on outlook go to help tab then detect and repair..make sure you have your office disk.) the 3rd PC never worked until their level 3 tech guys called me up.(these guys are good) but difficult to get

    Informative Thanks PalmPilot 512

    That sure helped!

Is it me, or does the Versaamail support and help pretty much suck?

It does work nicely. And, I double checked to make sure that the bcc: holds up with new emails as well as replies. It does.

Just to help the other readers out there, the Rules doesn't have a specific rule for a bcc: from yourself. You need to put your address in as the sender.

Okay, now, how do I send myself stuff without it going into the Sent folder?

One nice benefit of this is that the incoming emails that get "Ruled" to your sent folder, or any other folder for that matter, are unread. So, they're easy to distinguish from emails you've sent from your PC and emails you've sent from your device.

I realized while I was using this this weekend that I did not need to worry about deleting messages from my inbox on the device. Even the ones that come back to me that I've bcc'ed to myself.

When you sync your VersaMail with your Outlook, because those messages that came to you have been moved to your Sent folder in Outlook, the syncing process takes those messages out of the inbox on your device. Make sense?

Default How do I just sync e-mail on my Outlook Application without Wireless Versamail?

I don't want to pay for a data connection for my treo 650 yet, but I have no clue if I can sync just the e-mail in my Outlook inbox onto my Treo 650 so I can read my e-mail on the go. Is there a way to do this? Or am I forced to get a data wireless plan just so I can read e-mail? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have spent a buch of money getting a 650 and some sw and some accessories, but I was waiting on a mail program and tring to use Versamail. My biggest problem was syncing with Outlook - particularly with the Sent folder. This is a solution - at least until I buy Chatter! Thanks.
