Default treo 650 NEED CAMERA HELP!

so this weird thing is going on with my 650. i can take pictures and save them to the sim card, but when i try to save them to my 2 gig memory card, it won't take a picture at all. this just started happening the other day. prior to that i had no problem taking pictures and saving them to my extra memory card.

even more strange, i can still take video while it's on the memory card setting, just not photos.

i've already done a soft reset, and tried to hotsync thinking i may have had a corrupted image... but no luck.

also, it's not the button. the center button works for all other functions and in fact you can here the button making it's proscribed system sound when it's pressed. it just doesn't take a picture.

anyone have any idea what's going on and more importantly if there's a fix.

    i would greatly appreciate it!

    thanks!

try moving off all of your photos and videos from the card onto your computer (using a card reader would be very fast). Then go onto the card while still on the computer and delete the folder DCIM. Now put the card back into your phone and try to take a photo, saving to the card. It will create a new DCIM folder.

thanks for the info... the only problem is i don't have a card reader... i tried to delete the dcim folder using filez but it said there was an error and the file was in use?

is there another way to delete the dcim folder w/out using a card reader?

    thanks again!

try doing another soft reset, then try deleting the DCIM folder, hopefully you have synced over all of your photos on your last hotsync, as you will lose them all in the delete.

May I suggest a wonderful program called Card Reader which allows you to accesss your card while still in your phone, like a removable drive. Just plug your phone into your computer by USB and enable this program and an explorer window will open up showing your entire card's contents. You can drag and drop files back and forth, or delete files right there.

the card reader program is the bomb! even with my mac it worked great... i got the trial version... does it self destruct or something? or can you just delete and use it over... actually if it's not too spendy... i might just buy it...

    now the camera works... thanks...

meanwhile... what corrupts that file? just curious.

    have a great day!

Hey glad it worked for you. Card Reader is only $11 or $12, well worth the money. Now you can drag and drop photos and videos back and forth, or ebooks or just about anything, sure is faster than syncing that stuff. If you are with Sprint, be sure to set your Media conduit in Palm Desktop to Do Nothing and checkmark "set as default" so that you no longer hotsync photos and videos; this will really speed up your hotsync process.

As far as corrupting a photo file, who knows. sometimes it is just an overly large video file that will show as corrupt and then it corrupts the entire DCIM folder in the process.
