Treo 650 resets

After having both a mobile and a PDA I decided a Teo was the way to go, bought one and was very happy with it. However I managed to lose it and bought another [secondhand] Treo 650. Since I have had it it constantly does resets to the point where it is virtually unusable. It resets if it isn't used for a while, after it has been charged, after syncs etc etc etc. I have done a hard reset which seemed to make matters a little better but since the first sync things have got worse. Has anybody any idea what I can do about this - I really want to keep the Treo but as things stand it looks like my old mobile/PDA or an SPV.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is what I would do . . . . .
I would move your backup folder to another location.
I would then delete your desktop application
I would hard reset the Treo
I would then reinstall the desktop app
Sync it with the Treo
See how stable it is without any 3rd party apps
slowly pull apps out of the backup folder that you moved before you deleted the desktop app.
The moment I saw a reset I would delete the last app installed
