Treo 650 Synchronization Failure with Outlook Contacts

In case anyone else has this problem: I purchased my Treo 650 unlocked, Cingular Branded from Amazon.com. I was getting error messages from the HotSync Manger that Outlook Contacts Synchronization failed, even though my previous Treo 650 synced just fine (purchased directly from Cingular, but we dropped it and the screen was damaged, so I purchased the replacement from Amazon), as well as my husband's Palm Tungsten E. I called Palm Support at 1-877-426-3777, and followed the prompts. However, I did not call the number they indicated to call for Cingular phones as my previous experience with Cingular support has not been good. After a 25 minute wait, I was able to get the help I needed. You'll need the serial number of your phone to give to customer support. Here is what they had me do to fix the problem:

- Go to the Start Menu, click on Run. Type in "outlook /reset folders" - there is a space after the word "outlook"
- After doing that, Outlook will open; just close it.
- Go to the Palm Sync Manager, click on Custom, and change Contact sync to have the desktop overwrite the handheld (just for this one sync).
- Sync the Treo - this should take care of the problem. It seems to have worked for mine.
