Treo 650 to Run BlackBerry Software

Will this hijack your calendar sync?
It sounds like this may be tied into Versamail which I was using through our exchange server but found I could no longer sync my calendar to my 3 different computers. Everything else worked fine, but Versamail kidnaps the sync from the calendar so you can only sync wirelessly and then only to your exchange account. I really hope that the Blackberry connection is seperate from Versamail.

It looks like Palm is rolling out all types of new Treo devices next year. I wonder if TMobile will pick one up.

RIM and Windows
OK so we are going to see a TREO with Windows and another with RIM software. No release dates so far. Has anyone heard about hardware changes?

woooow...I thought that this was just software that would bee avaiable for the current PalmOS Treo 650 and not a completly new revamped Treo 650.
oh and yes it will be tied in with versamail
"Palm will implement the BlackBerry software alongside its Versamail e-mail client in order to keep a familiar look and feel in place for Palm OS users, said Joe Fabris, director of wireless marketing for Palm. Treo 650s with the BlackBerry software will be able to access e-mail delivered by Microsoft's Exchange or IBM's Lotus Domino e-mail servers."
Will it run on Treo 600?
"Treo 600 users will not be able to use the BlackBerry software on their devices, Fabris said. It will only be available for the Treo 650 and future Palm OS-based Treos, he said."
..and just from that quote I seem to have answered my own question, this "software" will be available for current PalmOS Treo 650s, I'm just wandering if it'll be some type of a download or will Palm actually build this into someetype of a firmware/rom upgrade.

I don't believe it will be a completely revamped Treo 650. It will probably require a ROM update to get the Versamail with the Blackberry Connect functionality. It's not going to be a Treo running the same OS that runs on a Blackberry.
-
I'm also wandering if this will be individually released by our phone carriers since Palm already individually reeleases updates for our Treos. Then there's the GMS/CDMA issue. For example CDMA phones can't currently take advantage of push technology since voice and data can't simultanesly run on the CDMA networks.

No longer a company rebel
Wow, everyone else in our company that travels has a company paid BB... I didn't want one. They gave me a little Verizon phone and I bought my own Treo 650! Email hasn't been a problem between me and the BB managers, but I couldn't do meeting invites/acceptances updated to all my computer calendars... But with the BB software... this is really going to be great! The Treo 650 is just a much more "usuable" tool than those boxey BB's! I've only had mine 2 months, but I can't live without it!!

BlackBerry Connect & Treo 650
It is my undestanding that Blackberry Connect for the Treo 650 will initially be available only with Cingular. I'm currently a T-Mobile subscriber and was thinking about getting an unlocked 650 from Palm (T-Mobile does not sell the 650) to use on T-Mobile's network. But I was wondering how I could get the BlackBerry Connect software without being a Cingular subscriber. Anyone know how I might be able to get it?
