Default Treo 650 (w/Sprint) as an external modem

Gonna Take a wild try at this one.

When I had my sprint SPH-I330 smartphone from samsung someone figured out how to use the 3G capabilities of Sprint's Vision services to trick a pc into thinking the phone was its modem. Really neat, you would use a dial up connection through your phone and it would allow you to connect you laptop at the same 3G almost dsl speed on your phone. All you needed was your datalink cable and using the generic driver for a 33600 modem.

Any one have any luck with this yet??

Thanks in advance,,

TP

Download "pdanet" from the palm software site of your choice, and enjoy. The speeds are very good for a wireless modem, probably the same as the other phone you used.

Default Applicable Sprint Charges

I have the Sprint Visions Pack w/early nights and weekends. Are you able to go to any ISP or are you limited to using Sprint. If able to use any ISP are you charged additional data usage/KB? How would they know you weren't just on a phone call instead?

i could be wrong, but i think that if you connect with anything other than sprint vision, they will charge you the more expensive data usage rate. the other concern would be that the treo 650 does not get all that high speed of a connection. if you have bluetooth, you should also be able to connect without using pda net. sprint's latest update should have included the BTDUN capabilities that they had "disabled".

Smile Thanks!

I appreciate your reply. Sprint is good at making things difficult (i.e. cost extra $'s) However, I have heard the opposite on the speed issue. From what I've read it's supposed to be at much faster than dial-up (without using a BT connection) with a USB connection.
