I'm not sure what you believe you deleted.
Christopher, I don't have that option either on my 650! I can go to sounds and only use sounds off the built in list... no "new" button on the main sound screen or after the "manage" button... the "manage" button only brings up the list of sound files you can choose from and show you their file size and give you the option to delet them...
could this be a carrier specific function? I'm on Sprint... or could it be a firmware function? I have : Treo650-1.12a-SPCS
interesting....

Yay! Maybe this evens out the fact that Verizon cripples BT and Sprint makes it so you have to buy ringtones from them :P Just a thought.
But like another guy said, recording is fun for a laugh, but it takes a lot of work to get one without background noise.

That is the screen I am on! No new button on it. I think the software maybe different for different providers......I just notice a new update for my treo for sprint. I am on 1.12 I think and there is a 1.13a available maybe that will creat a new button on my treo.
Ran the update and still no New button. But my phone is updated!!
Be sure you have your hotsync cable because bluetooth won't run the update.

Hello,
This is Kevin from Palm. Sorry, I couldn't begin to speculate why this is the case with Sprint, but can confirm that the voice recorder ringtones function is not available on Sprint branded Treo 650's.
Sincerely
Kevin

Thanks for clearing up the mystery with our Sprint Treo's, Kevin! The ability to record my own ringtones, for me, is way down the priority list. What IS on top of the list, is the software/firmware update from Palm/RIM to make my 650 act like a blackberry. My company uses blackberry's for email/phone, but I don't like them; so I got a Treo 650 and have to manually pull my company email from the web via our Outlook Web Access server.
I really hope to be able to enjoy my company email "pushed" down to me, like all the blackberry's out there...
do you know (can you share) the status of this blackberry emulation software for Treo 650's??
Thanks Dude,
Maddog

Sorry Maddog, the last I heard was that Blackberry Connect was due in "early" 2006, but I have no update at this point. If I find more info, I'll post it here. Checking in on the main Support pages for the various 650 models is also good to do every so often, as all updates are posted on them.
I can't endorse any third-party solutions, but Chattermail might offer one. I'm sure others have talked about it in regard to push capabilities here at ET.
Sincerely
Kevin

Thanks for the info, Kevin. I guess RIM has it on hold until it solves the antitrust thing, or simply "implodes".... I guess we'll just have to wait and see....
As for those 3rd party solutions... yeah, but only if RIM poofs away... I'm sure I'll have to spend money on a "VPN" client with money spent on the email app to get my company outlook mail, so I'll sit patiently by and wait for the BB Connect "upgrade/patch/software"
I do enjoy getting my personal outlook email from my ISP via Versamail for free! It goes and checks every 5 minutes and works flawlessly! only..... I can only have one outlook account on it.... (sorry, boss!)
Thanks again,
Maddog
