    Default Treo and the internet

My wife has used her Treo 650 for 2 years and loved it. Recently, because of traveling so much, she had the internet package added to the phone to access emails. After her traveling, she purchased a new phone and now I have the 650. She transferred all her contacts and palm entries and the internet to the new phone and I did the same from my old phone without internet. I do not wish to have the internet and so my problem is, I have this nagging popup that says "In order to perform that you need to be connected to the internet or something to that effect. How can I get this to stop?
    Thanks

You don't say which carrier you are with, but you should call them and have them go over the account for the treo 650, which you say should have your phone number on it (but no internet); sounds like something got screwed up when they did the transfer of phone numbers.

I would also consider doing a hard reset of the phone and re-syncing it with your Palm desktop that has all of your contacts. You did set up a new hotsync name with the Palm desktop, right, for your contacts and calendar?

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

You have a program trying to access the internet automatically. You might ask your wife if anything thing is set to go online at start up. You mentioned email she may have it set to check automatically through the day in her email program or versamail.

I use treoalarm and have had it set to get weather updates at startup before. I have since changed my settings so programs will not connect on there own. Saves battery.

You are not able to connect by your post so I am sure it would be one of the programs on your treo. Do you still have your wives email account setup in the phone?

Thanks so much for the replies. I believe she had her email check every 15 mins. I'll look into that. This has never been an issue till she started going online. I also keep getting palm power resets for no apparent reason. By the way, the carrier is verizon.

I am curious if you ever created a new username for yourself for the Palm Desktop and hotsynced the treo to the new username. That would make a fresh interface for yourself with only your calendar and contacts and none of your wife's programs and settings. I would also hard reset the phone first and then hotsync with your new username.

I have not created a ne username as of yet. I haven't done anything other than clear hear contacts and palm entries and put in mine. I'm not very treo savy and learning as I go.

multiple problems. You should do a search here for resets or reboots to correct the problem. If you have third party software acquire a backup program or run the one you have.

The reset is corrupted data in one of the files. Could be email that has been setup. For more detailed help with your going on line and resets we need more info (program or function you are using when it resets)

Or if you do not want any of the third party software a hardreset will get the phone back to factory settings. Let us know what you decide

Well if all you are interested in for the Palm is to have a calendar and contacts, I highly suggest you go onto the Palm Desktop program on your PC and set up a new username for yourself. You can enter in all your appts on the calendar part and enter in all of your contacts in the Contacts section. Then I suggest you do a hard reset of the phone which wipes off everything on the phone and resets it to factory fresh. Then you do a hotsync, making sure all the sections of the sync are set to Syncronize Files (you find this on the toolbar - Hotsync - Custom) To set up a new user you click on the toolbar - Tools - Users - then click New and you can add all the info for yourself. Then after you sync the phone to the desktop, it will only be your info on there and you shouldn't get any messages about the internet.
