    Default Treo External Keyboard Help

    Hi!
Just got my Treo 650 a week ago, and I mostly like it a lot. However, with my tungsten E, I had an IR (universal) Keyboard that worked really well. Naturally, the drivers are incompatible with the Treo (thank you Palm) so I had to spend another $70 on a new keyboard.

I have to say, that this keyboard sucks. Well, let me restate that. They keyboard itself is fine. The interaction between it and the treo sucks. Sometimes I have to press the keys down several times to get them to register on the treo. If I'm typing fast (not that I'm all that fast) it seems to work, but if I pause for a few seconds, then I have to press the key several times in order to get it to work. I'm now using the same keyboard on my TE (after installing the appropriate drivers) and I have none of these problems.

I did install the latest Treo 650 drivers off the palm site, and I'm still having all these problems. One of the things I use the most, far, far more than the phone, is the ability to type into this thing. If I can't do that %80 of it's utility is lost to me.

Have other people had similar problems? Can anyone recomend a different keyboard, perhaps a bluetooth one? The one I have is the one that Palm says will work with the Treo, and since the thing works on the TE, it's clear it's not the keyboard itself.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I wrote a bit about this a week ago.

I purchased the palm universla keyboard and had some difficulties. The issue is the distance between the IR transmitter on the keyboard being too far away from the Treos.

My keyboard's IR transmitter folds down to store and you raise it up to use. The easiest solution was instead of placing the transmitter at a 90 degree angle like it recommends, I place it at a 45 degree angle which brings the connection closer to the Treo.

I am not sure which keyboard you use so I dont know if this helps. I have no difficulties anymore.
