treo keeps power off my phone - Treo Forums

I just picked up my unlocked treo a couple of days ago and when i leave it on for a while it will power off my phone. when i hit unlock it will restart and power on my phone again. I can't afford to miss any calls and i don't know how long the treo power offs my phone for. at first i thought it was my sim pin then i took it off and it still does it. should i hard reset it?

This is Kevin from Palm. There are a number of possible causes for this. You might take a look at the Palm Knowledge Library article "Treo 650 phone (radio) turns off unexpectedly" for some troubleshooting steps. The article also addresses an issue with the SIM tray and Cingular phones, should you have one of those.

i checked the link..i've cleaned my sim and checked to see if i have the newest software 1.13-row. but it still does it. it seems to just reset itself at random times..sometimes when i haven't touched the phone for a while and sometimes just when i unlock it and scroll through the menu. anyone know of any other solutions? hard reset?

It sounds like you have a 3rd party app or corrupt db that is causing your treo to reset and it is not turning the radio back on when it resets.
The following link will tell you how to see the error log to determine what the last app running was when your device reset.

the only 3rd party software i have is the volume care and documents to go that i installed from the treo disc. should i just hard reset it and see what happens?

I would do a hard reset and use your phone for a while to see if it is still resetting. If it's not, one of those two apps was causing it to choke or a database got corrupted.
If indeed it did stop the resets, don't hotsync the same folder contents back to your treo or you're going to see the same issue happen again. Make sure you do a clean install. Rename your backup folder in your Palm program files to something else and then hotsync. It will create a new back up folder and then you can install Docs2go again.

well i've tried everything...and i just did a hard reset and not install anything on my fone. i've added a piece of paper in the sim tray to make it tighter..and still does the same thing..i do have the old sim tray. but even with the paper for a tighter fit i doubt this is the problem. all the hard resetting and fiddling with the sim tray and it still reset when it feels like it. now the only thing i can think of now is my actual sim card...i'm up in vancouver, canada ( I don't know if that matters..lol) and I'm with Rogers. My sim card is from 2001 and this is the one and only thing i can think of that could cause the problem now..unless i just so happened to get a totally messed up treo from palm. any other imput or solution is greatly appreciated.
